Quintana Roo is located on the eastern part of the Yucatan Penninsula. Bordering Yucatan, Campeche, the Caribbean Sea, and Belize to the south, Quintana Roo's capital is the city of Chetumal. "Cancun", the famous vacation resort is located in Quintana Roo. The island of Cozumel sits off the coast and attracts many visitors throughout the year.
The state has a population of well over 1 million, and is expanding at a fast rate due to its tourism popularity. The state is known for its frequent hits of severe storms because of it's 'open' and vulnerable location.
