Saint Pierre and Miquelon

Saint Pierre and Miquelon is a group of small French islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean. The territory is located south of Newfoundland and consists of a series of eight islands, Saint-Pierre, and Miquelon-Langlade being the major ones.

The island of Saint-Pierre is bordered by the smaller acquaintences of Petit Columbier, Ile aux Marins, Ile aux Pigeons and Ile aux Vainqueurs. None of these smaller areas are inhabited as they once were.

The separation of Saint Pierre and Miquelon is driven by a very strong current, sometimes called "The Mouth of Hell" by local fisherman. These waters are normally treacherous, causing many shipwrecks along it's coast. The climate can be very damp, windy and foggy as the winters tend to be long and harsh.
